This may sound a little unbelievable but if you look in the right places, you can get cheap rates for flights so you don’t burn a hole in your wallet. But how does one do this when airline rates are increasing by the day? Be smart. The Internet is your best friend when it comes to smart travel. Do your research well in advance. Booking your tickets early helps you gain a great advantage instead of a last minute booking. (more…)

Now he’s aiming to copy the JetBlue model in Brazil, offering point-to-point service out of Sao Paulo. The unnamed airline has received $150 million in financing. It aims to take to the skies next year, pending approval, according to Reuters . WSJ.com has the following fun factoid:

Mr. Neeleman, who was born in Brazil and has both American and Brazilian citizenship, bought a small Brazilian airline called Cheta as a base for the new operation. Dual nationality means restrictions on foreign ownership of airlines don’t apply to him.

For more on Neeleman, see this post on The Cranky Flier.

Barbados is a destination for true travelers—designed that way by Mother Nature. A little more remote. A little harder to get to. And a whole lot harder to leave. Barbados is an island for people who have a burning desire to take a vacation … and never, ever give it back.

Weather
Barbados pampers its visitors with over 3,000 hours of sunshine yearly. The weather is almost always sunny and warm, cooled by the constant north-east trade winds. The average daytime temperature ranges between 84 and 88 degrees. While summer temperatures rarely exceed 90 degrees.

Language
English is spoken everywhere, so you will immediately feel at home in Barbados. However, don’t be surprised if you hear the musical Bajan dialect spoken throughout the island.

Activities
Barbados offers everything from romance to exciting sports. Worship the sun on a secluded beach or sail the seas aboard a sleek catamaran. Enjoy the fresh seafood at a picturesque harbor bistro or just watch the yachts ease by. Cheer a world-class cricket team or test your own skills at an award-winning golf course. Join the dancing parade at one of many local festivals or dance the night away at a fabulous nightclub. Barbados—it’s 166 square miles of endless vacation possibilities
